re·sil·ient

It's been a few weeks since my last post so let's catch up. Unfortunately- I am still looking for a donor. My aunt passed the initial cross-match with great results.  When we moved forward with additional testing we found out that she could not move forward as a potential donor due to unforeseen potential health complications. Another let down but I am not hopeless. As a matter of fact for every person that goes through the testing - I feel more encouraged.

The transplant team is very thorough and takes every precaution to ensure the health of the donor as well as the recipient.

So what's our next step? The transplant team reached out to my wife to go for additional testing and possibly move forward through the Kidney Paired Exchange Program (image below). If she is cleared then I guess we can review the million dollar question.

Which is....When do I go for transplant? Are we waiting for a specific GFR number?

I am officially on the Kidney Transplant List which is good news, considering I am still fairly healthy in the world of Kidney Function. I have my list of questions ready for my next check up with my regular Nephrologist coming up next week. That means it's been 3 months of transplant testing. 😲

All jokes aside I am extremely grateful and humbled by everyone that has offered to be tested. Selena Gomez was blessed to have her best friend actually be a good match for her. Something great is in the works for me and I have to continue to practice patience. I will stay resilient with every Donor that fails the testing - there are no closed doors, just different options to explore. And with everything going on in Puerto Rico and USVI - I do feel blessed to have access to immediate healthcare. 🙏🏽❤️🇵🇷
