KIDNEY FOR GISELA

Meet Gisela

Hi. My name is Gisela Delgado and I have kidney disease. I have written this sentence to hundreds of friends over the past week. In a matter of a week my whole outlook on finding a living donor has changed. I realized (or rather was educated by Rhoda - more to come on her later) that just because a family member/friend/co-worker does not feel comfortable donation does mean they can not help you. You just have to give them direction.

I think the immediate reaction for most people when they hear you need a kidney donation is to ask you about it….but not too much - cause then somehow you might be put on the spot and asked to donate. Let me be clear - I am not asking anyone directly to donate a kidney. It’s not for everyone I get it. But if you come across my post and all I ask is that you share the post - that still helps. It help not only me but it also spreads awareness about living donation.

So here are some things I have learned in the last week, mostly in the last 24hrs:

  1. People generally want to help - they need direction. A strong Call To Action.

  2. Most people did not even know I needed a kidney and was looking for a living donor. I felt as though I talked about it pretty openly but I was wrong.

  3. People do not know their blood type

  4. You can buy a kit on Amazon (of course you can) to test your blood type at home. GAME CHANGER Results in seconds.

  5. People do not know how to Re-Post on Instagram. No Seriously. Why is Re-Post not an embedded feature?

I woke up Thursday morning overwhelmed with hope. I am completely at a lost of words by the outpouring of love of support. (Okay so not totally out of words - cause I just wrote this post but ya know).

Words Matter. And Actions Matter.

To everyone that has reached out, joined my team, given me a hug - Thank You. You really have no idea how much impact the smallest gestures means when you start to feel a little helpless.

I am Gisela Delgado aka GC aka G Money and that new kidney is SO within reach.
